The Mallorca 312, 2018

On Saturday 28th April 2018, staff and friends of Link FX and Coe Solutions took part in one of the largest and most popular road cycling events in Europe.

Flying into Parma de Mallorca and travelling up to Port de Pollenca, the cyclists took a few days to acclimatise and get their cycling legs together, before attempting the 1 day timed event on Saturday. You are given the option of three distances – The full route of 312K (198 miles and just ender 15,000ft of climbing, 225K (150 miles) or 167K (100 miles).

Starting in the coastal town of Playa de Muro you travel round the coast towards  Alcudia and the town of Puerto de Pollenca and then onwards towards  the climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The first climb to Coll de Femania is a category 2 climb followed by climbs to Coll Puig Major and a lovely 10 mile descent down into the town of Soller before the steepest ascent Coll des Pi at 7%.

Having done much of the climbing during the 167 route, cyclist opting for 225K/312 add a loop heading down towards Magaluf, before rejoing the 167 route and then those hardy soles braving the 312 again veer off towards the East Coast and Cala Millor before heading back to the finish at Playa de Muro.

All routes are arduous, hard and not without danger and with closed roads for the most part (depending on time), the 8000 cyclists do enjoy a fabulous day. For those thinking of attending in 2019, registration opens around October .

Until next year..
